Entertainment and leisure in Tajikistan: cinema, video, games and event tickets
A guide to entertainment websites in Tajikistan: cinemas and online film services, the national video hosting platform, event ticketing, karaoke and game servers.
The websites of cinemas, online cinemas, ticketing services and gaming projects help you pick a film for the evening, buy a ticket to an event or find people to play with. This review brings together Tajikistan's entertainment and leisure websites, from cinema listings to karaoke and Counter-Strike servers. For each group we briefly describe which sections these sites have and how they can help a reader deciding how to spend their free time.
Cinemas and tickets
For those who prefer the big screen, the site of the Kayhon cinema shows listings of films playing today and coming soon with showtimes, along with prices, visiting rules and booking information. The site of the Navruz cinema in Dushanbe publishes showtimes, the repertoire and listings, and lets visitors buy tickets online and choose their seats.
Tickets not only for films but also for cultural and entertainment events are sold by Echipta, an online ticketing system.
Online films and video
Tajik films and series can be watched online on the national platform ASAR, which also posts new and upcoming releases and has an interface in Tajik, Russian and English. Zamonavi is an online cinema where you can watch films, series and TV shows, top up your balance and pay for access.
A wider range of video is offered by MiX, Tajikistan's national video hosting service: films, series, sport, cartoons, music and Tajik songs, plus the option to upload your own clips.
Karaoke and games
OhangBazm offers karaoke with AI voice scoring, prizes, a music quiz and playlists, and lets users rate other performers. Counter-Strike players may find CSARENA.TJ useful: a gaming project running servers for Counter-Strike 1.6, CS: Source and CS:GO, where you can join its community of players.
How to choose the right site
For a trip to the cinema, compare the cinemas' listings and check whether you can buy a ticket and choose a seat online straight away; for a concert or another event, a ticketing system is the easiest place to look. For watching at home, choose a platform by format: a catalogue of Tajik films and series, a subscription online cinema, or a video hosting service with clips of every kind.
